Step 1 of 4 · Agree
Your consent comes first
Before we test anything, here is exactly what happens.
Nothing runs and nothing is stored until you agree, so take a minute to read what you are agreeing to.
What Wi-Fight collects
Only what the speed check needs
Speed test results
Download, upload, and response time for each test.
Each test measures three things: how fast data comes down, how fast it goes up, and how quickly the connection answers. Wi-Fight keeps these numbers on this device, encrypted, so it can work out your daily middle value.
The time of each test
So we can see if your speed drops at busy hours.
Wi-Fight saves the date and time of each test. That is how it can tell a slow evening from a slow whole day. It does not record what you were doing at that time.
Your provider, plan, and monthly price
So we can compare what you get with what you pay for.
You pick your plan from a list or type it in. Wi-Fight uses the speed on the plan label and the monthly price to work out your fair line and what a shortfall costs you.
A photo of your bill, only while it is read
If you scan a bill, the photo is read once, then it is deleted.
If you choose to scan a bill, the photo is held in this page only while it is read. Only the prices and fee names you confirm are saved. The photo itself is never written to storage.
What Wi-Fight never collects
We do not ask for it and we cannot see it
The sites you visit
We measure speed, and we never look at what you do online.
A speed test sends and receives test data only. Wi-Fight has no way to see your browsing, your apps, or anything else on your network.
Your home address
We do not ask where you live.
Wi-Fight never asks for a street address or uses your location. Note that the IP address M-Lab publishes can show your provider and rough area, which is why we ask you first.
Any password, or your provider login
Your Wi-Fight account uses your email and a one-time code, so there is no password to give us, and we never ask you to log in to your provider.
Sign-in uses a one-time code or a passkey, so there is no password. Wi-Fight never asks for your provider account login.
Our promises
Your data is encrypted when it is stored on this device.
Nothing is sent to your provider or the FCC unless you approve it.
You can pause tests or delete everything at any time.
Your choices
What M-Lab publishes. Speed tests run on M-Lab, an open research platform. M-Lab publishes each test's results, time, and IP address, and keeps them. That is how open internet research works, and it is why we ask first.
Check the M-Lab box to continue.
You can change either choice later in Privacy & data.
